History of the Club

Anabasis - what's in a name?

Anabasis Mountaineering Club

Formed in 1961 in Merseyside, the Anabasis Mountaineering Club has its spiritual home at our splendidly situated Club Hut in Snowdonia.

We have a good social mix with a wide range of abilities and ages.

In addition to climbing and hill walking, some members enjoy fell-running, canoeing, caving, mountain-biking, skiing and orienteering.

There are regular meets for activities in many parts of the British Isles and a group which climbs on Thursday evenings.

There is also a strong social side, mainly focusing on our Hut, as well as regular Tuesday evening gatherings in Liverpool.
